Food insecurity among college students has been associated with poorer health, poorer academic performance, and mental health symptoms such as depression and anxiety. In this brief, the Urban Institute reports on nationally representative estimates of food insecurity among college students. This study shows that households with students enrolled in two-year colleges were more likely to be food insecure in the period after the 2008 recession.
